This section is at the very top of the navigation of this part. God wants and needs to be put first, before everything else. I gladly put Him first. Ok, it´s one thing to accept the fact that God exists. Even that seems to be hard enough for some people. It´s a whole different story about accepting Jesus for what He is and accepting Him as your Saviour and Lord. But making this step will bring meaning to your life: He is the truth, the way, and the life. Through Jesus, you cannot only believe in God, but you can experience Him. Through Jesus, you can have a personal relationship with God. God bless you.
My personal spiritual background I grew up in a "normal" protestant Swiss family, together with my brother. As that, I attended religion classes in primary school and later attended the required worship services from 14 until 16 years old, until I was finally released when I was "confirmed", a ceremony where 16 year olds become "mature" members of the church. As you can feel from what I am writing here, I never was really interested in religion. Left alone faith. I might also have to note that I never had been clearly told about the difference of a paper-Christian and a real (reborn) Christian (which I wouldn’t have understood then anyway). After I had finished the required worship services, I only appeared in church for official events when one would be expected to show up. I never believed in God. When I got into my teenage years, my mom got involved with esotericism. Stories on her experiences with different spirits caused me to believe in a spiritual world however. Later on, in my mid-twenties, I got involved in a relationship with a Christian girl that lasted several years. Through all this time, she tried to tell me about God, I even accompanied her to church on a regular basis. But I never got more out of it than a frustration about getting up early on Sundays. Whenever she talked about God, I compared her relationship to Him with Calvin and Hobbes. By 2006, about two years after this relationship had ended I felt an emptiness inside and I was ready to get spiritually involved. However, I never expected it to happen the way it happened. You can read all about it in U-Turns . After I got to know Jesus, it was an exciting experience to celebrate my first "real" worship service. For the first time I understood what I am doing at church, why me and all those other people are there. I am so happy and I thank God from the very bottom of my heart that He chose me to get to know Him. That He is my friend. Because He is the true Super Hero in this world. Thank you Lord! |
